Official Recognition 2015!
2015 proved to be an exciting year for California Coast University. Starting off in January, we received reaccreditation for five years through the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) – an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE). From the USDOE website, “The goal of accreditation is to ensure that education provided by institutions of higher education meets acceptable levels of quality. Accrediting agencies, which are private educational associations, develop evaluation criteria and conduct peer evaluations to assess whether or not those criteria are met. Institutions and/or programs that request an agency's evaluation and that meet an agency's criteria are then 'accredited' by that agency.” The reaccreditation process is a challenging one – affording educational institutions the opportunity to conduct a comprehensive self-evaluation and then to be evaluated by a team of educational professionals. We are grateful to the many faculty and staff who worked diligently through this process and we celebrate our success with our students and graduates.
To end the year on a high note, we also received full State Approval through January 2021 from the State of California’s Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE). The BPPE is responsible for monitoring the activities of educational institutions operating in the State of California. From the BPPE website, “The Bureau exists to promote and protect the interests of students and consumers…through the effective and efficient oversight of California's private postsecondary educational institutions…”
California Coast University is proud of our continued recognition and committed to maintaining high educational standards as we move forward. Keep up the good work everybody!
