VA Educational Benefits
Section 1018 of Public Law 116-315, Johnny Isakson and David P. Roe, M.D. Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020, added new requirements for educational institutions participating in the educational assistance programs of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The VA had granted California Coast University, Facility Code: 21111205, a waiver for requirements of section 1015 of the Isakson and Roe Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020 (Public Law 116-315) until December 31, 2022.
CCU has received the following information from the VA:
VA understands the Congressional intent of 38 U.S.C. §§ 3672(b)(2)(A)(i)(II) and 3675(b)(4), which is to require an accredited institution’s participation in Title IV of the Higher Education Act to provide more opportunities for GI Bill students to finance their educational needs through federal student loans, also known as direct loans, instead of limiting GI Bill students to only private loans.
VA received your request for an additional waiver and is not extending the waiver nor granting additional time. Consequently, the new waiver request is denied. Currently enrolled students may continue to receive benefit payments through the end of their programs.
