1. How long does it take to complete a degree program?

The degree programs offered by California Coast University have been designed to allow students to begin at any time and proceed with their studies as their own time and ability permit, as long as a minimum of 1 course is completed every 6 months.

Minimums. The minimum time required to complete a degree program is one academic year (9 months) for undergraduate and master's degree programs. The minimum time required to complete a doctoral degree program is three years. Certificate programs have a 16 week minimum.
Maximums. Students are required to complete their degree program 5 years from the date of enrollment (10 years for doctoral programs). Certificate programs have a 2-year maximum.

2. Can I start any time?

Students are allowed to apply and enroll at any time during the year. Please contact an Admissions Representative for details.

3. Can I take a single course?

At this time, students may only enroll in a certificate or degree program and cannot enroll into a single course.

4. Do I have term dates?

No, most students have the ability to complete their studies at their own pace but must be able to demonstrate the successful completion of 1 course every 6 months. Only students using VA benefits or company-paid tuition assistance are required to enroll in 16-week terms. Be sure to discuss the specifics with your respective employer and contact an Admissions Representative prior to completing an application for admission. Simply download the course Study Guide (or have it mailed to you) and grab your textbook. Then, you can study from anywhere you choose. There is no need to be stuck in front of your computer.

All CCU courses are accompanied by one college-level textbook.
Textbook Rental Library

Every course in the educational programs offered at California Coast University requires an assigned textbook. To assist students in managing the high costs of textbooks, CCU offers a rental library. Each book rental is only $35 for 120 days of use. Read More About the CCU Rental Library
Comprehensive Study Guides
California Coast University has developed comprehensive Study Guides, for each course, that are designed to coordinate and sequence the learning materials. The following points will help to illustrate how the Study Guides are designed:
- Study Guides are based on specific college-level textbooks, which may be obtained from local bookstores, the publisher, or the University's Rental Library.
- Each Study Guide is organized with a complete syllabus, along with instructional materials to guide the student chapter by chapter through the corresponding textbook.
- Each Study Guide contains an overview and summary of all textbook chapters, along with a listing of important keywords (with definitions) and self-tests (with answers) on key points.
- Study Guides include 4 multiple choice unit exams equally spaced throughout the instructional materials, a writing assignment per unit, and the Final Examination.
- Doctor of Education students are required to complete 4 written assignments for each unit examination in lieu of the 4 multiple-choice unit exams that are required for other programs.
- Examinations are designed to test the student on the information contained within the preceding chapters.
- All tests have no time limit and may be completed as open book tests.
