Dr. Borja has a broad background in the healthcare management, nursing, leadership, and case management fields. Along with teaching and research, he has been responsible for managing a variety of clinical units in both inpatient and outpatient settings, acute hospital and skilled nursing facilities. He has conducted research focused on managing quality improvement initiatives, discharge planning, and nursing leadership. He has extensive experience in case management and leadership and holds advanced certifications in these areas. Dr. Borja is affiliated and active with a number of professional organizations including American Organization of Nursing Leadership, American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, Academy of Certified Case Managers, and Case Management Society of America.
At California Coast University, in addition to teaching, he is active in curriculum development and revision, and professional development activities in distance education and best practices for online teaching and learning.
